However, traditionally the majority of courses do have wonderful sign posts that guide you around the course. Be sure to look at the signs and use them as your guide to get from one hole to the next hole you're going to be playing. If you run into trouble negotiating the course, staff members and fellow players are generally very willing to help if you ask them.

Obtain Course Map or Plan

Prior to beginning your round on the golf course, it is important to look over a map or plan for that particular course. Looking over the map will provide you with information such as difficulty level for each hole that you will come across. This information gives you the opportunity to think about the upcoming hole and decide which shot you are going to play. Additionally, you will know the golf course plan well and be able to determine in which direction you need to hit the ball. When there are holes that are blind or the have obscured flags from the initial tee shot, knowing the golf course layout is extremely helpful in having a better game.

Be Respectful of Other Players on the Golf Course

Even though you may wish to play the holes a different route, it is imperative to respect the traditional paths for the golf course. This can be fun but at the same time you want to be mindful not to disrupt other groups of golfers by not following the primary route of the golf course.
